[moderate age-toning and light soiling to covers, bumped at top right corner]. (drawings, graphics, photographs) The first issue of this short-lived literary magazine (near as I can determine there was only one additional issue before it folded), stated in the front as "A Limited Edition of 500 Copies," the present item being No. 157. Contributors included William S. Burroughs, Diane DiPrima, Paul Goodman, LeRoi Jones (before he was Amiri Baraka), John Sinclair, Philip Whalen, and numerous others. There are two tipped-in contributions, both present and in excellent condition: Burroughs's "The Coldspring News" ("All the News That Fits We Print"), faux-dated September 17, 1899, and Carl Linder's poem "Hurricane; A Spectacle for Antonin Artaud." Missing, alas, is the Jonathan Williams booklet "Petite Country Concrete Suite," which was originally in the stapled-on pocket on the inside front cover (the pocket itself is present).
